Blog #9

    •     A flipped classroom can mean that the typical learning style of coming to class and listening to a teacher lecture to get your information is reversed. Students can watch brief videos or lesson about the material at home or on their own time before coming to class and that way it can save time. Since students have already be introduced to the material before class, this leaves more time for discussion and activities with their teacher. Students learn better when a teacher is able to walk them through an exercise rather than just listening to them talk about a concept. This can be used through presentations, emails, videos, or blogs (234 Technology for Distance Delivery). The flipped classroom goes hand in hand with distance education. This way school can be taken outside of the physical building and applied to real world activities in real time. Technology is so advanced today and this is such a great outlet.

I will definitely be using Twitter in my future classroom. I have enjoyed using it for the purposes of this class and can see how it could be beneficial to fuel classroom discussion. I like twitter because students will have the opportunity to customize their own page and can use hashtags to interact with each other or be able to find information out about a subject very quickly. I like how Twitter can be used to find out in real time things that are going on in the world and in our community. A benefit of twitter is that it only allows 140 characters per tweet, this way I will encourage students to think critically how to summarize what they are saying. Twitter can be super fun and interactive and I think it would be a great source for students to use, considering most of them already have one anyway.

I enjoyed how FUN this assignment was. I had a great partner who I worked on this with and we had fun sharing our creative ideas. I am a big advocate of games. I personally learn better about a topic if I am quizzed on it immediately after learning. For example, if I just learned a new topic and think quiz myself on it, I am basically going over my notes quickly and saying to myself got it, got it, got it, oh I still don't understand this part, I need to go over it again. If I don't constantly check myself as I am learning a topic I will fall behind and become overwhelmed. I learned how easy it was to create a game through Powerpoint and next time I will try a different game and try to add in more of my own sounds effects or funny gifs. I will definitely be bringing in this tool to my future classroom to make learning fun!

  1. I like your section about using Twitter in your future classroom. I think it is going to be more and more helpful in the future as more and more students and parents become familiar with using it.
